Oral Sedation

Sedation is an option for people who hate to come to the dentist or experience a lot of nervousness over their dental appointment. Sedation helps you relax and be more comfortable. We offer two forms of sedation: Nitrous oxide and Oral Sedation.

NITROUS OXIDE: Nitrous oxide is often called “laughing gas,” is commonly used on children and adults and is a great option for light sedation. It will help patients feel more relaxed during their dental visit yet aware of the procedure being performed. The effects wear off very quickly and there isn’t a need to have someone drive you home.

ORAL SEDATION: Oral sedation is an effective tool for anxious patients. This option involves a sedative taken orally the night before and the morning of your appointment, although the procedure varies depending on the level of sedation you desire. Some patients are given a very light oral sedation just to take the edge off of their anxiety. Other patients choose a deeper sedation. Patients under oral sedation are in a very relaxed state and usually will have little to no memory of their dental appointment. You will need transportation home and need to plan on staying home the remainder of the day as this sedation wears off slowly.
